FAIRBURY, NE — People heading to any of the variety of events going on Friday evening in southeast Nebraska and northern Kansas should be prepared to take on the heat.

Early Friday afternoon, the National Weather Service issued a Heat Advisory for virtually the entire Ol' Red 99.5 listening area.

Temperatures were in the high 90s with heat indexes expected to hit 105 degrees. The Heat Advisory will be in place until 8 p.m. Friday.

People should drink plenty of fluids and be sure to wear sunscreen if out this afternoon or early this evening. Wearing lightweight and loose-fitting clothing can also help reduce the risk of heat related illnesses.
