LPD: Argument over air conditioner leads to gunshots
LINCOLN, Neb. -- The Lincoln Police Department were called for a weapons violation where two people in their 40s were arguing.
LPD said police were dispatched to the 6600 block of Platte Ave on the report of a weapons violation on July 12 at 10:51 a.m.
The report said the caller reported hearing a man and woman arguing followed by a gunshot.
According to authorities, the officers made contact with the 42-year-old victim who said the argument with 47-year-old Michael Orso was about the removal of a window air conditioner.
Allegedly the victim said they swung a small rod that was used to hold up their window shade at Orso to try and stop him from removing the appliance.
The report said Orso responded to the victim by taking out a handgun and firing a round into the yard.
Officials said a spent .40 caliber casing was found on the ground near the location of the air conditioner.
Authorities said a .40 caliber handgun was later found during the service of a search warrant at the residence.
According to LPD, Orso denied any wrongdoing and was lodged in jail for terroristic threats and use of a weapon to commit a felony.
