Identity of man killed by tree branch released

Lincoln Police Department identified the man who died in a structure collapse Thursday.

LINCOLN, Neb. -- Lincoln Police Department identified the man who died in a structure collapse Thursday. 

The Lincoln Fire and Rescue said that 59-year-old Kevin Clements was pronounced dead at the scene in a structure collapse that happened around 1:10 p.m. June 30. 

LFR said that, along with LPD, they were dispatched to the 2700 block of Manse Avenue for the report. 

Authorities said that arriving emergency personnel discovered a large tree branch had broken from a tree, falling onto the roof and brick chimney of a residence. 

The branch and chimney then fell and struck Clements who had been in the ground floor sunroom. 

Clements succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene. 

LFR and LPD said they would like to extend their condolences to the family and friends of Clements. 

They also said they would like to ask the public to respect the family's privacy as they grieve the loss of their loved one.
