Gov. Ricketts seeks applicants to fill District 19 vacancy

Governor Pete Ricketts is looking for the next person to fill vacancy in the state legislature.

LINCOLN, Neb. -- Governor Pete Ricketts is looking for the next person to fill vacancy in the state legislature. 

The vacancy in District 19 was created by the resignation of Mike Flood after his election to represent Nebraska's first congressional district in the US House of Representatives. 

Applications to fill the vacancy in Legislative District 19 will be accepted until July 8th. 

Applicants wishing to be considered must have lived within the district for at least a full year, are registered to vote, and are at least 21-years-old. 

District 19 represents Madison County and the southern portion of Pierce County. 

The appointee will serve until January 2025.

Those interested may complete an application found on the Nebraska.gov website.
