Madonna Rehabilitation Hospitals cuts ribbon, celebrating new Lincoln hospital wing addition
LINCOLN - After about two years of of hard work, Madonna Rehabilitation Hospitals has cut the ribbon on their new three-story patient wing addition in Lincoln.
On Thursday, a number of Madonna representatives were on hand for the ceremony, one being Madonna President and CEO Paul Dongilli.
“This project signals a huge milestone in Madonna,” Dongilli said. “It’s a $57-million project expansion that adds roughly 112,000 square feet to Madonna’s campus.”
The new wing includes 59 modern private suites Teresa Farlin is the Vice President of patient care for Madonna. She says Madonna is diverse with the way they treat for patients and the different types of treatments they provide. She believes the new wing will allow them to take that even further.
“We are very creative and adaptive with all the work that we do,” Farlin said. “Moving into this expansion, and into these larger rooms will allow us to do more with patient independence.”
Along with the expansion to the building, comes with Madonna also expanding their staff.
“We have added additional support staff to manage, clean, and keep the expanded footprint up to speed,” Dongilli said.
Lincoln Mayor Leirion Gaylor Baird spoke to those in attendance, taking the time to thank those who made the new wing possible over the last two years.
“Thank you to all of you for making this possible,” Gaylor Baird said. “The Madonna team, the board members, the staff, and the community who have helped get to this remarkable moment in Madonna’s history and this remarkable moment in our community’s history.
Patients will be welcomed to the facility in the next couple of weeks, and Farlin says Madonna is ready to put into motion, what they’ve been working for over the last two years.
“We’re very close, we’re two weeks from move day and we are excited to show our patients, this new space.”
The new wing officially opens its doors on June 1.
