A 57-year-old man is dead after an alleged fight in Lincoln, marking the first homicide of the year.
LINCOLN, Neb. -- A 57-year-old man is dead after an alleged fight in Lincoln.
Lincoln Police said the incident happened around 6:30 a.m. Thursday in the area of 28th and F Streets.
Police said officers were initially dispatched to a report of two men fighting.
On arrival, officers found a 57-year-old man who was unresponsive.
Responding officers attempted life-saving measures, and the man was taken to a local hospital where he later died from his injuries.
Authorities are active at the crime scene and LPD Crime Scene Investigators are continuing to process the scene for forensic and digital evidence.
Police said they will remain there while the scene is being processed, and they ask that the public avoid the area so they can investigate the case.
The investigation is ongoing.
Lincoln Police said this is the first homicide of the year. They have extended their condolences to the deceased's family and friends, and ask that the public respect their privacy as they grieve the loss of their loved one.
