BEATRICE – It appears Johnson County Central Schools will not construct a new pre-kindergarten to twelfth grade school in Tecumseh.

Johnson County voters approved a $43.375 million bond issue in Tuesday’s Primary.  But Otoe County and Pawnee County voters disapproved of the project, leaving the unofficial vote at 556 in favor of the bond issue…640 against it.

The issue would have increased the school district levy by 42-cents per one-hundred dollars of property valuation…adding about $840 annually to property assessed at $200,000.

The school project was planned on 52 acres of property northeast of the current Johnson County Central school facilities, in Tecumseh…consolidating grades at one location.

This is a corrected story from an earlier version that indicated passage of the issue.
