THAYER AND FILLMORE COUNTIES, NE — Several people in southeast Nebraska are without power Saturday morning after storms ripped through the area Friday evening.

According to Norris Public Power District, about 430 people in Thayer County are experiencing a power outage as of 8 a.m. Saturday. Many people in the county have been without power since about 7:30 p.m. Friday night.

Norris PPD said in a statement Friday night that their customers in Thayer County should expect to be without power overnight. Saturday morning, the company said crews were out working to restore service.

Also Saturday, the company announced it had three structures that feed the Deshler area down and another five along Highway 81 south of Belividere down as well.

Norris PPD has sent crews from the five other counties it serves to Thayer County to assist crews already there to restore power.

Nebraska Public Power District (NPPD) is reporting outages in Geneva. As of Saturday morning, nearly 1,400 in the community are without power.

Much like Thayer County, they've been without power since about 7:30 Friday night. NPPD says crews are out this morning making repairs.

As of 8 a.m. Saturday, neither company has an estimated time for power being restored.

Further complicating matters is the wind. Thayer and Fillmore counties are under a High Wind Warning until 1 a.m. Sunday. The area is expected to see sustained winds of 30-40 miles per hour with gusts to 60 mph Saturday.
