BEATRICE - A southeast Nebraska natural resources district is taking a step to ward off problems with fire danger.

Lower Big Blue Natural Resources District officials say a fire ban is being put into place effective immediately.  All campfires or burning of any kind is being prohibited at all NRD recreation areas.

Officials issued the ban at the request of local volunteer fire departments because of the high fire danger across the district. The fire ban will stay in place until further notice.

Tuesday, a Red Flag warning was issued for extreme fire danger conditions, across the region.
