Beatrice Police pick up man on warrant, other charges

Early Friday morning arrest recovers checks taken from a Lincoln victim

BEATRICE - Beatrice Police have arrested a 25-year-old man on a Jefferson County warrant, who is now facing other charges.  Just after two a.m., Thursday, police were securing Trey Saathoff in a patrol unit on the warrant from Jefferson County.  Prior to departing for Gage County Jail, Saathoff asked the officer to open a patrol car window slightly.

While stopped at a red light, the officer observed through an in-car video system that Saathoff was moving unusually.  The officer found that a white object had fallen from the opened window.

The officer exited the vehicle and searched the immediate area, finding four separate checks originating from a victim in the City of LIncoln....issued to four separate recipients.

Lincoln Police informed Beatrice investigators that the victim had made two separate reports of the theft of checks and a forgery attempt...with the checks totaling $1,767.

Saathoff was arrested on the pending warrant...and on suspicion of theft by receiving stolen property, criminal possession of a forged instrument and tampering with physical evidence.
