OMAHA, Neb. (WOWT) - A bill in the legislature that aims to cut taxes took center stage Friday.

LB 825 would get rid of the tax on social security income and several amendments were added on including one that would cut the top income rate and corporate income tax rate.

Open Sky Policy Institute estimates the state would lose $900 million if the bill and all the amendments pass.

Supporters tried to force a vote on the bill but failed.

It’s unlikely to be placed on the agenda this session.
