FAIRBURY, NE — A former Jeffs football player has been tapped to lead a high school football program in western Nebraska.

Trent Grizzle is the new head football coach at Crawford Public Schools. He will also teach P.E. at the school in the Nebraska panhandle about 25 miles west of Chadron.

Grizzle attends Chadron State College where he is an offensive lineman for the Eagles to complement his studies.

While at Fairbury, Grizzle earned First-team All-State honors on the gridiron. His senior season, the Jeffs went 9-0 in the regular season.

Crawford plays in six-man football. Last year the Rams went 4-4. They last made the playoffs in 2019.

Grizzle will replace Rick Barry at Crawford. Barry is leaving Crawford to be the Activities Director at Chadron Public Schools.
