Authorities say driver of pickup was ticketed for failure to yield

BEATRICE – A Friday afternoon collision north of Beatrice caused no injuries, across from Gage County Equipment.

Gage County Sheriff’s investigators say it happened along U.S. Highway 77 when a pickup pulled into the path of a northbound Jeep.

Authorities say a 1998 Dodge Ram pickup driven by 60-year-old Rodney Whitehead of rural Beatrice was attempting to cross the highway and turn south.  It was struck by a northbound 2015 Jeep Patriot, driven by 47-year-old Bethany Meints, of rural Beatrice.  The pickup driver was cited by law officers for failure to yield.

Both drivers refused medical treatment, following the 4:19 p.m accident.  Both drivers were using safety restraints.
