BEATRICE – The Nebraska Judicial Branch has announced a deadline of Tuesday, March 15th to receive applications for a District Court Judge position in southeast Nebraska.

The person appointed by the Governor would fill a vacancy created by the retirement of Saline County District Judge Vicky Johnson at the end of January.

The Judicial Nominating Commission will conduct a public hearing in District Court, in Wilber, on April 5th (10 a.m.).

The commission will receive information on the qualification of candidates for the judge position in the First District.   The judge office would be based in Saline County.

Members of the public can provide written or oral testimony during the process.  The Judicial Nominating Commission, at this time, plans to conduct an in-person  hearing…but notes that changes could be made dependent on Covid-19 issues that could occur.
