BEATRICE - Beatrice Police arrested a 35-year-old Beatrice man Thursday morning on robbery and burglary charges. According to the police department, David E. Barrett was arrested shortly after 8 A-M following an incident that involved the owner of a building located at 1803 South 8th Street, finding Barrett inside his property.

The owner told police he entered the building and noticed items were moved around and found Barrett hiding behind a pressure washer. He said Barrett took off running and the owner was able to catch up with him outside the building.

When police arrived, the victim was holding Barrett on the ground.  Following a search police found several items on Barrett including gloves and keys that belonged to the owner.

Barret was arrested on charges of burglary, robbery and possession of burglary tools. He was taken to the Gage County Detention Center.
