LINCOLN, Neb. -- Lincoln residents gave testimony over the Fairness Ordinance in front of the Lincoln City Council on Monday.
The proposed ordinance revises part of Lincoln's 66-page Equal Opportunity Ordinance - specifically prohibiting discrimination based on sexual orientation, gender identity, and military and veteran status.
Lincoln Mayor Leirion Gaylor Baird said it's been one of her goals since taking office.
The measure drew widespread support, but also some opposition, with one resident even saying the measure should be put up to a vote of the people.
Council members will vote on how to proceed with the Fairness Ordinance next Monday.
