KEARNEY - The Superintendent of Beatrice Public Schools is one of four finalists for the position of Superintendent at Kearney Public Schools.   Jason Alexander is on the interview list of four candidates, according to the school's website.

The person selected from among the four finalists would replace retiring superintendent Dr. Kent Edwards.

The four candidates were selected from a nationally recruited pool of applicants to go through the interview process.  They are:

Jason Alexander, Superintendent at Beatrice Public Schools

Dr. Chelsea Feusner, Director of PK - 5 Education Kearney Public Schools

Dr. Beth Johnsen, Superintendent at Conestoga Public Schools

Jason Mundorf, Associate Superintendent at Kearney Public Schools

The Nebraska Association of School Boards is heading the district’s search and offered the list of applicants to the Board of Education at a special meeting, January 31st.

Superintendent candidate interviews are being conducted this week, with each candidate spending a day in Kearney, visiting schools and interviewing with principals, teachers, staff, students, parents, community members, and district leaders.

Wendy Kreis, president of the KPS Board of Education said the board is pleased to have such an impressive group of candidates as finalists. She said in a statement that all possess skills and experience that could benefit students, staff, families, and the community.
