LINCOLN — More than 20 rural Nebraska communities will see millions of dollars in investment for rural development projects.

US Department of Agriculture Rural Development State Director Kate Bolz announced $28 million in investments for community facilities last week. The investment is part of $1 billion in funds being spread across the country.

“There couldn’t be a more important time in our nation’s recent history to get these funds to Nebraskans,” said Bolz. “We are proud of the strength and compassion demonstrated throughout the pandemic by our rural communities.  These funds will provide resources to health care facilities, first responders, and other organizations providing essential service to help our rural communities thrive.”

Several southeast Nebraska communities are among those receiving grants or loans.

Fillmore County Hospital - $5 million loan

Davenport Public Library Association - $22,000 grant, $22,000 loan

Village of Adams - four grants totaling $57,000

City of Pawnee City - $78,600

Village of Steinauer - $6,200
