Sandy Creek student to receive community hero award for crash response

Sandy Creek -- A high school student will be honored with an award for helping for helping first responders at a crash scene.
Senior Micah Biltoft will be presented with a Community Hero Award tonight as a part of First Responders Appreciation night at Sandy Creek School. First responders from across the county have been invited to the girls and boys basketball games, which start at 6:30pm.
On December 20th, Biltoft witnessed a crash outside of his school. Clay County Emergency Manager Tim Lewis said a two-vhicle crash blocked most of the roadway. Biltoft immediately called 911 to report the event. When authorities arrived, Biltoft assisted with traffic control by using the emergency lights on his car to warn other vehicles about the accident.
Lewis says Biltoft's courageousness, quick, appropriate thinking, and ability to respond in a calm manner made this event smoother for first responders.
Biltoft will be presented The Community Hero Award at halftime of the girl's game.
