Southeast Community College Board chooses new chairman
Neal Stenberg takes over head of governing board during reorganization meeting, at Milford Campus
BEATRICE – A Lincoln attorney has been elected as the new Chairman of the Southeast Community College Board of Governors.
Neal Stenberg was elected by colleagues during the SCC Board’s reorganization meeting Tuesday, at the Milford Campus. Stenberg formerly served as legal counsel to the board and administration, prior to running and being elected as a board member.
James Garver was elected as Vice Chairman, Arlyn Uhrmacher as the board’s Secretary, and Dr. Ellen Weissinger as Treasurer.
Southeast Community College President Dr. Paul Illich says the college has returned to a student and staff mask requirement regarding Covid-19…because of a new Directed Health Measure in Lincoln and Lancaster County.
"It's in effect until February eleventh, where it will be evaluated. Since this all began, we really haven't had any issues with compliance, so that's gone really well."
Illich says the college has done the best it can to remain fully operational and stay with its goals, during the pandemic. He said the school is setting a target of reaching total enrollment of 15,000 over a five-year period….including full-time and continuing education.
The SCC Board approved a new lease agreement for the school’s Learning Center at York and finalized a new Beatrice Custom Farming agreement on college foundation-owned property.
