SEWARD - The Crete Cardinals are headed home victorious in both boy's and girl's basketball.

In the girl's game, Seward led by as much as 16, and by 11 at half, but a huge third quarter got Crete back in the ball game. The two traded blows throughout the fourth, and it looked like OT was on the horizon, when Ona Stutzman hit a deep three to tie the game at 54. However, second later, she was hit with a foul, sending Mack Steuer to the free throw line -- she hit both, and Crete survives 55-53.

The Cardinals were led in scoring by Marin Rasgorshek with 16, but the games lead scorer was Seward's Ona Stutzman.

The boys game was all Crete in the first half, as they jumped out to a quick 11-2 advantage.

Seward cut the game to one, in the third, but there was no stopping Aidan McDowell. He scored 22 in the game, 17 in the first half. Taking him out of the equation in the final 16 minutes indeed gave the Blue Jays a shot, but they fell by a score of 57-45.
