Needing a Red Kettle Campaign push, heading into Christmas
Beatrice area drive at halfway mark of Christmas season goal
BEATRICE – The Beatrice Salvation Army Red Kettle campaign is appealing to the public to push the annual campaign to its goal, with just over two weeks before Christmas. Pastor Hope Burris says the campaign is down somewhat, compared with this time last season.
The Red Kettle Campaign is important for holiday time donations that make it possible for service units to carry out their mission not only during the holidays, but year-round.
"The donations that we receive here all stay in Gage County. They go to help people with their Black Hills Energy bill...they go to help make food pantries...they go to give clothing and household vouchers to people who need clothes, or pots and pans...those kind of things. Those donations go to help everyone here in the community."
This year’s Beatrice Red Kettle Goal is $30,000…and as of Thursday morning, the total had not yet reached $15,000.
Donations can be made at Salvation Army Red Kettle locations throughout the community….or online at…beatriceredkettle.org
or by sending a check to….The Salvation Army...120 South 7th Street, Beatrice, NE. 68310
Volunteers are still needed to ring bells at kettle locations…and it might be a good group project.
"Schools, groups....a community group...if you have lots of people in your family...you can take an hour shift each and cover a whole day. It's really easy to volunteer and you would be helping a great cause."
Red Kettles are located at Walmart, Sunmart, Russ’s Market, the Indian Creek Mall and Ace Hardware. You can go to register at ring-dot-com…to volunteer for a time and location.
