BEATRICE - The Beatrice Chamber of Commerce is cutting ribbon at one of the areas newest businesses.
Thursday morning, Dan Crawford and members of the chamber cut the ribbon on the new Countryside Event Center outside of Beatrice. He and his wife Lori worked on the project for two years. One of the premiere events the center can hold is weddings.
"Weddings are always a joyous time because of the bride and we hope to have everything go great and it has," Crawford said. "Seeing all the people coming in and having fun, enjoying the place, that's probably been my biggest award, the weddings."
The center has an outdoor space, as well as a lounge area on the upper level. It also has a space with basketball hoops that can be used for other events and recreation. Crawford says the event center is multipurpose.
"We've got a lot of Christmas parties, we can do about anything," Crawford said. "We've had funeral receptions here, bridal showers, next weekend we're supposed to have a birthday party for two 16-year old's so we can accommodate anything small to large."
