BEATRICE – Beatrice Police observing a vehicle that they recognized as being involved in a Richardson County pursuit, have arrested a suspect.

Just after three a.m., Wednesday, a Beatrice officer patrolling in the five hundred block of Bell Street noticed a blue Chevrolet Equinox in the parking lot of a convenience store…registered to a Beatrice address that had been involved in an earlier pursuit.

The plate number matched the one involved in the Richardson County incident. The Beatrice officer attempted to identify the male next to the vehicle, but the man fled on foot.  The officer then pursued him in his patrol unit for about two blocks, catching and detaining the man in the three hundred block of South Seventh.

The man, identified as 32-year-old Trevor Hurley, had active arrest warrants from both Saline and Richardson Counties.

After handcuffing the suspect and a search, the officer discovered a glass smoking pipe recovered from a small waist pack from the suspect’s wrist.  The pipe had burnt residue suspected to be methamphetamine.

A further check of records confirmed the arrest warrants from Richardson and Saline Counties.

Hurley was arrested and taken to the Gage County Jail. He's being held on suspicion of drug and drug paraphernalia possession, and obstructing a police officer.
