BEATRICE – A Beatrice man facing an upcoming trial on a murder charge will have a hearing on admissibility of evidence in the case. Gage County District Judge Rick Schreiner set the hearing for November 30th (4pm).

Brandon Long, who turns 26 on Saturday, is scheduled to go on trial December 6th, in the shooting death of Alex Rader of Beatrice.

Rader was shot in the overnight hours in late December of last year, as he stood outside Long’s residence in Beatrice, while Long’s fiancé and two-year-old daughter were in the home.

Investigators said Long had suspected Rader of having a relationship with his fiancé.

Long is charged with second degree murder and use of a firearm in the commission of a felony.  He has been in custody since his arrest.
