Truck misses curve, overturns south of Cortland

BEATRICE – A South Carolina truck driver’s rig overturned north of Beatrice early Tuesday morning, causing a fuel leak on the highway.
Gage County Sheriff’s investigators say the semi-tractor-trailer driven by 37-year-old Jeremy Stafford of Greer, South Carolina was westbound on Nebraska Highway 41, and failed to make the curve at the intersection with U.S. Highway 77.
The truck rolled onto its side, coming to rest in the eastbound lane of Highway 41.
Prior to deputies arriving, a motorist reported the vehicle was leaking diesel fuel. Cortland Fire and Rescue was then dispatched to the scene. Traffic was blocked until the truck could be removed from the scene. No word on whether the driver was injured. Authorities say its believed he was using a safety restraint.
The rollover happened at around 12:45, a.m., Tuesday.
