Fairbury City Administrator gives notice, will step down in three months
The City of Fairbury is looking for a new city administrator.
FAIRBURY, NE — The City of Fairbury is looking for a new city administrator.
Mary Renn announced this week that she plans to leave her post as Fairbury city administrator this summer. Renn says she is resigning for personal reasons and is grateful to have served the City, the mayor and the city council. She will stay on in her current role for three months. Renn plans to remain in Fairbury.
“These are exciting times for the City of Fairbury and I am proud to be a citizen and excited to see the City continue to move forward,” Renn said in an email.
Mayor Spencer Brown praised Renn for her work as administrator.
“Mary has put the city in a very good position financially and has done her due-diligence to make sure the city is as lean and efficient as possible,” Brown said.
Brown says there will be an open application process for the next city administrator. He hopes to have someone hired before Renn leaves so the new hire can learn from her.
Some big projects implemented during Renn’s tenure include the Water Sourcing Project, Electric Distribution Upgrade and Wastewater Treatment Plant Upgrade. She says she can be available to help with those projects in the future if needed.
Renn started as interim city administrator in November 2019 and became the city administrator in March, 2020.
