BEATRICE, Neb. - While they may not be at the head of the class at a white board, every school has individuals on staff that help keep things running and a southeast Nebraska school district is celebrating one of those people.

The Beatrice Education Foundation awarded the first ever Head of the Class Staff Award to Jackie Bornemeier, who currently serves in Accounting and Payroll for Beatrice Public Schools.

Along with colleagues, coworkers, friends and family, BEF surprised Borenmeier with the award on Monday afternoon.

"Her nominator explained, she has a positive impact on BPS culture," Jami Vater, Director of the BEF, said. "Through dedication, culture, and behind-the-scenes support she [Borenmeier] helps create an atmosphere where staff feel valued, supported, and cared for."

As part of the honor, Bornemier was presented a $1,000 check and trophy.
