FALLS CITY- The Falls City City Council is scheduled to meet at 6 p.m. on Feb. 17.

The agenda includes a grant application for an electric substation project, chicken permit public hearings and declaring blight for the economic redevelopment plan.

The parks department will discuss fees and the concession stand lease.

A discussion or action item would consider appointment of Gary Jorn as city administrator and clerk/treasurer as recommend by Mayor Mark Harkendorff.

City Administrator Anthony Nussbaum submitted a letter of resignation after nearly four years.

The former city councilman cited street reconstruction, modernization of the utility system and restructuring of electric operations as accomplishments.

He said the city has secured $5.3 million in grants and $15 million from the state Legislature for funding a transmission project.

He said the most significant outcome has been the culture within the city and with community stakeholders with a focus on collaboration, transparency and operational improvement.

He said there were many obstacles that required problem-solving.
