FAIRBURY - The Nebraska State Patrol handing out serious charges to a Fairbury couple this month. They're both facing four felony child abuse charges, including first degree sexual assault and production and distribution of child sexual abuse material (CSAM). And their own children are reportedly involved.

47-year-old Nicholas Roehl and 31-year-old Jamie Kleinbohl were arrested in Fairbury last week. Between the two, around a thousand sexually explicit photos were found on their phones, and dozens others were shared on the social media site KIK from or to accounts matching their IP address.

According to affidavits, in May 2025 investigators recovered around 90 files from the accounts on KIK/Medialab. CSAM was present in all of the files, the reports say, as were photos of Roehl and Kleinbohl.

An August 2025 search warrant recovered three iPhones from the pair's home on 6th Street in Fairbury. Between the three devices, one of which was labeled "Jaimee's iPhone" and another which was labeled "N's Phone," investigators uncovered approximately 900 "files of sexually explicit conduct which has a child as one of its participants or portrayed observers," according to court records.

The metadata of the photos included "multiple keyword searches," the reports claim, including keywords like jailbait, very little girls, real fresh young schoolgirls, and plenty of other more explicit terms.

The affidavits state directly that "on October 28, 2025, during a Child Advocacy Center (CAC) interview, a minor victim, 4 years of age, identified herself as being portrayed in those photos."

In that same interview with two minors aged four and six, the younger of the two "disclosed that she was being digitally penetrated by her mother, Kleinbohl, and her father, Roehl." They both claimed that there were photos of them taken in their home between January 2024 and August 2025.

Kleinbohl and Roehl are separately facing the same four felony charges. That includes first degree sexual assault of a child [1B Felony, 20 years to life in prison if convicted]; generation/creation of CSAM [1D felony, 3-50 years]; purchasing/selling of CSAM [1D felony, 3-50 years]; and possession of CSAM [2A Felony, up to 20 years].

Both defendants are being held in the Jefferson County law enforcement center. Sheriff Nick Georgi said last week he could not provide any further details on the case as it is under the jurisdiction of the Nebraska State Patrol; the NSP did not provide any further insight into the case as of Wednesday afternoon.

Both Kleinbohl and Roehl appeared virtually from the Jefferson County jail for their arraignments Wednesday. Both were informed of their rights and the charges against them, and both were assigned separate defense attorneys.

County attorney Joe Casson rejected any motion to potentially reduce the bonds in either case. Kleinbohl asked for her conditions to be amended to "no contact with any minors without supervision," claiming Wednesday "my children have been crying and asking for me every day." Jefferson County judge Linda Bauer elected to resume those discussions at both parties' preliminary hearings, both of which are scheduled for next Wednesday, February 18.
