NORTH PLATTE, Neb. (KNOP) - Craig Uden began his one-year term this month as president of Nebraska Cattlemen, the organization announced earlier this week.

A fourth-generation cattleman from Johnson Lake, Uden is a partner in Darr Feedlot Inc., a commercial cattle-feeding operation in central Nebraska. He and his wife, Terri, also own and manage three commercial cow-calf operations.

Uden said he remains involved in buying and selling cattle and in customer relations, work that he called rewarding because of the relationships built in the cattle industry.

Uden graduated from the University of Nebraska. He has been involved with the National Cattlemen’s Beef Association since the mid-1980s and served as NCBA president in 2017. He has also served as president-elect, policy division chairman and federation division chairman, and has held numerous local and state roles, including past chairman and elder of Trinity Lutheran Church in Lexington and past chairman of the Dawson County Cattlemen.

He serves on the Nebraska Beef Council, the Nebraska Cattlemen Research & Education Foundation and the Nebraska Feedlot Council. He has served on the Nebraska Cattlemen board of directors as committee chairman, vice chairman, vice president and president-elect, and is a member of Nebraska Ag Builders and the foundation board of Alpha Gamma Rho fraternity.

Uden began his term Dec. 12. Nebraska Cattlemen announced his election Dec. 22.
