BEATRICE, Neb. - Bond has been set for the driver involved in a deadly hit and run near Beatrice and the name of the victim has been released. 

Rene Castaneda was arrested for failure to stop for an accident resulting in death, after he allegedly left the scene of a fatal accident where a pedestrian was struck and killed early Saturday morning. The accident occurred just after 1:00 a.m. on Saturday, August 9, near the intersection of HWY 4 near SW 45th Road.

The accident killed 31-year-old Trevor Garton of Beatrice. 

Castaneda's bond has been set at $1,000,000 bond set Monday morning, with 10% of that amount ($100,000) be required for him to be released. In addition, if bond is met, Castaneda will not be allowed to operate a motor vehicle and he must sign a waiver of extradition.

His arraignment is scheduled for August 26.
