WYMORE, Neb. - A city in southeast Nebraska completed demolition of a longstanding building.

The City of Wymore demolished the Gambles Building earlier this week. The building was constructed in 1911 and housed the Gambles hardware store before being closing in the early 2000's.

Wymore was able to complete the project through grand funds... City Superintendent Tim Sedlacek said demolition began early this week and took a little over a day, but getting to that point was a process.

"It was a long process to get it down," Sedlacek said. " Throught the asbestos abatements, through the grant funding, writing the grants and getting bids and time for contractor to take it down."

Sedlacek says taking down an old building can benefit town appearances, but whether something will take the place of the Gambles building remains unclear.

"For appearance-wise it's a benefit, but it's just another building gone where there probably won't be anything there," Sedlacek said. "Hopefully there is, but we haven't seen anything come back yet."
