WYMORE - Whether it was a tornado or not, it did damage to a Nebraska Department of Transportation facility Monday night in southern Gage County.

Severe storm winds ripped the soft cover partly off the north side of an NDOT salt storage facility, located at the junction of U.S. Highway 77 and Nebraska Highway 112. A department supervisor said the salt that was stored inside the building was being loaded on a steady stream of dump trucks Tuesday.
The material was being transported to the NDOT’s highway yard in Beatrice.

Video from the Travis Klover family on social media seemed to indicate a tornado and photos from Wymore Fire Chief Mark Meints shows the funnel or tornado at the curve of U.S. 77…..near the storage facility that was damaged.

In addition to removing part of the roof, the high winds damaged a fence at the south side of the state property and left a utility pole leaning.
It was one of two damage reports from the area last night. The other was damage to a home, southeast of Pickrell.
