BEATRICE – A report of a late-night theft has resulted in an arrest for a burglary, in Beatrice.

Police were sent to a reported theft Tuesday night at an apartment in the seven hundred block of West Mary Street.  A woman was suspected of entering the apartment and taking prescription medication and a laptop computer.

An arriving police officer observed the items outside the apartment on top of a garbage can.  The officer said the laptop computer was damaged and was inside a bag with the other items.

Police spoke to a woman who told them she had taken the medications and laptop from the apartment because one of the alleged victims had taken methamphetamine from her.  The suspect allegedly told police she received the methamphetamine to distribute it.  Police also said a witness had seen the woman open the door to the apartment and enter.  Authorities went to the scene at around 10:28 p.m.

Police arrested 52-year-old Michelle Magdaleno, on suspicion of burglary, criminal mischief and attempted distribution of a controlled substance.
