LINCOLN, Neb. -- The Lincoln Police Department is investigating a car accident that put two men in the hospital.

LPD said officers were dispatched to the intersection of 70th St. and O St. around 2:15 a.m. Saturday for a reported motor vehicle accident.

Officers said a white Ford Escape was traveling east when it reported hit a gray Chevy Malibu that was also traveling east. 

According to authorities, personnel with Lincoln Fire and Rescue used equipment to get the Malibu driver out of the vehicle. The driver of the Malibu was a man in his 20s and he was taken to a nearby hospital with life-threatening injuries.

Officials said the driver of the Escape was a male in his late teens. He was also taken to a nearby hospital but has non-life-threatening injuries.

Officers said the intersection of 70th St. and O St. were currently closed while they investigating the scene and ask that members of the public use another route until they can re-open the intersection.

According to authorities, no names are being released at this time.
