James L. "Jim" Boyer, age 80, of Fairbury, passed away at Jefferson Community Health and Life on December 3, 2020. He was born May 24, 1940 to Thomas & Mary (Lasby) Boyer. He graduated from Chester High School in 1958. JB’s passions included, but were not limited to: coaching softball, car racing, bowling, golfing and remaining an optimistic Husker fan. He loved people, and “shooting the breeze.” He was a connoisseur of Casey’s black coffee, burnt bacon, keno, and Johnny Cash. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Connie Boyer; brother, Thomas Boyer; and granddaughter, Tiffany Barton. Jim is survived by his son, Scott Boyer of Beatrice; daughter, Trish Boyer-Dietz (Craig Dietz) of Omaha; four grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; brothers- and sisters-in-law; nieces; and nephews.

Private Family Services will be Monday, December 7, 2020 at 11:00 a.m. at Gerdes-Meyer Chapel in Fairbury. Viewing will be Saturday and Sunday from 1 – 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
