BEATRICE – A collision between a vehicle and a bicyclist in west Beatrice Monday night caused injuries to the bike rider.

The accident happened at a highway intersection in the west part of the city.   Beatrice Fire and Rescue and Police responded to West Court (U.S. Highway 136) and Nebraska Highway 4.

The nine-year-old boy riding the bike was transported to Beatrice Community Hospital, treated for bumps and bruises, and released.  The driver of a small SUV involved in the accident was not injured.

Police Sergeant Wes Henning says the westbound SUV driver had a green traffic signal, and the northbound bicyclist was crossing Court on a red light.

Police and emergency personnel went to the scene at around 6:17 p.m.
