Sheriff's Deputy led on pursuit that ended in suspect's residential driveway

BEATRICE – A Fairbury man has been arrested following a short, high-speed pursuit through the community, Wednesday night.

The incident began after a Jefferson County Sheriff’s Deputy attempted to stop a vehicle for a traffic violation near 7th and D Streets, at around 9:44 p.m.  When the officer activated his patrol unit overhead lights, the driver of the vehicle fled north on D Street, traveling at a high rate of speed.

The pursued driver then turned east…with the chase ending in a driveway of his residence in the thirteen-hundred block of H Street. 

41-year-old Robert Jones, of Fairbury was arrested after a short foot pursuit from his vehicle.   He’s been arrested on suspicion of operating a motor vehicle to avoid arrest, possession of a deadly weapon by a prohibited person, two counts of possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Jones also was jailed for driving during revocation, traffic infractions and having an open alcohol container.
