KIMBALL COUNTY -- A two-vehicle accident occurred on North Highway 71 the evening of July 8 that resulted in an injury and an arrest. 

Kimball County Sheriff’s Office, Banner County Sheriff’s Office, Kimball EMS, Kimball Fire, Air Link, Regional West EMS, Kimball Police Department, Banner Fire, Banner EMS and Nebraska State Patrol responded to the accident.

At approximately 10:35 p.m., a Chevrolet Colorado was northbound on Highway 71 when it attempted a U-turn. The pickup remained in the northbound lanes and began traveling southbound in the northbound lanes, where it struck a Toyota Rav4.

The driver of the Toyota, who is a female Scottsbluff resident, was flown by AirLink to Regional West in Scottsbluff with serious, but non-life-threatening injuries.

The driver of the Chevrolet, Ryan Burback, 36, of Kimball was arrested by Nebraska State Patrol for DUI high test, child endangerment, and willful reckless driving. He is lodged in Kimball County Jail.
