VALENTINE, Neb. - Deputies from the Cherry County Sheriff’s Office have made an arrest in connection with a deadly hit-and-run crash west of Valentine on Saturday morning. An 82-year-old man who was taking part in Tour de Nebraska died when authorities believe he was hit by a vehicle.

The collision happened around three miles west of Valentine on Highway 20.

As News Channel Nebraska reported last week, Tour de Nebraska was a five-day bike tour with more than 400 bicyclists riding hundreds of miles throughout north-central Nebraska.

In addition to the Cherry County Sheriff’s Office, Grant, Hooker, and Arthur County Sheriff’s Offices, as well as the Nebraska State Patrol, helped with the investigation.
