BEATRICE, Neb. -- KWBE is celebrating 75 years of success with a birthday bash Friday night.

The celebration includes food, alcohol and music; music from the band AM-FM.

The band plays 80s music, which is perfect for the birthday event of a station that also plays 70s and 80s classic rock hits.

“The fact that we do play all 80s music and thought it would be a great fit for their event,” said John Lefler, a member of AM-FM.

The lead singer for the band Friday will be Bryan Olesen, a Season 25 finalist on the show, The Voice, where he took third place.

He stepped in after the original lead singer, Jadyn Olesen, Bryan’s daughter, took an opportunity in Los Angeles, California for the summer.

“Bryan stepped up and said, ‘I’ll do some shows with you guys to kind of help get things going this summer’ and that includes the show Friday night,” Lefler said.

Lefler said this event will have some dancing involved.

“A totally 80s dance party,” said Lefler.

But also, attendees can sit and enjoy the show as well.

“If people want to sit down and watch the show, and listen and enjoy it, that’s great. If people want to get up and dance, we fully expect that too,” said Lefler.

The event begins at 6 p.m. and goes until 10 p.m. Free cake and ice cream is available for the first 200 people and entry is either $2 or a donation to the Gage County Food Pantry.
