KWBE celebrating 75 years of broadcasting, June 12th

Station was among the first in the Midwest to operate its own live, weather radar

BEATRICE – A southeast Nebraska radio station is celebrating 75 years of service, Wednesday.


KWBE-AM, a Flood Communications-owned station, went on the air in 1949. Mayor Bob Morgan issued a proclamation on the radio, Wednesday morning.


"The year 2024 marks the 75th year that Beatrice 1450 KWBE has been in business. Now, I therefore, Robert Morgan, Mayor of the City of Beatrice, Nebraska...do hereby congratulate KWBE for 75 years for being an informer of the latest news and weather coverage for southeast Nebraska and northeast Kansas....witness my hand and the official seal of the City of Beatrice on this 12th day....which happens to be your birthday....of June, 2024."


KWBE was hosting a Beatrice Area Chamber of Commerce Business After Hours event at the Vintage Venue Wednesday evening....and is hosting a 75th birthday celebration this Friday, from 6 to 10 p.m., at Charles Park in the downtown area.
