Wayne E. Trauernicht, 91, of Beatrice, died Sunday morning, June 9, 2024 at the Beatrice Good Samaritan Center.  He was born on May 24, 1933 in Beatrice to John and Anna (Wolken) Trauernicht.  Wayne grew up in the Adams area and attended country school.  He served in the U.S. Army from 1952 until 1954 during the Korean War.  On October 26, 1958 he married Dorothy Jurgens at Zion Lutheran Church of rural Pickrell.  They lived and farmed in the Adams/Filley area until moving into Beatrice.  He was a member of Zion Lutheran Church and had served on the church council.  He was a member of Bitting-Norman Post #27 of the Beatrice American Legion and a lifetime member of Geddes Thober Post #1077 of the Beatrice VFW.   Wayne had served on the Board for Farmer’s Union.  He enjoyed fishing, playing cards, traveling with Dorothy and having morning coffee with friends.   

Survivors include his wife, Dorothy Trauernicht of Beatrice; sons, Terry Trauernicht and special friend, Becky Hagood of Wymore and Kevin (Pam) Trauernicht of Beatrice; daughters, Barbara (Steve) James of Tulsa and Linda (Hunter) Blackwell of Beatrice; nine grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; sisters-in-law, Ruth Buss and Caroline Ideus; brother-in-law, Arnold Baehr; nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Anna Trauernicht; sister, Lois Jean (Charles) Burger; great-grandson, Asher Harper; sister-in-law Delores Baehr; brothers-in-law, Richard Buss and Gary Ideus.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 A.M. on Wednesday, June 12, 2024, at Zion Lutheran Church of rural Pickrell with Pastor Jerry Gilbreath officiating.  Burial will be at the Zion Lutheran Cemetery of rural Pickrell with military rites conducted by Bitting-Norman Post #27 of the Beatrice American Legion.  A family prayer service will be held at 10:15 A.M. on Wednesday at the church.  The body will lie in state on Tuesday from noon until 8:00 P.M. at the Fox Funeral Home.  The family will meet and greet friends and relatives on Tuesday from 5:30 P.M. until 7:00 P.M. at the funeral home.  A memorial has been established to the family’s choice with Don and Elnora Lenners in charge.  www.foxfuneralhome.net  Fox Funeral Home & Cremation Service of Beatrice is in charge of the arrangements.
