BEATRICE - A Beatrice Educational Foundation Capital Campaign to help provide support for the new elementary school in east Beatrice, has topped $700,000….toward a goal of raising $1.3 million.  Co-Chair of the campaign Doris Martin says contributions are coming in several different ways.

A 1968 graduate Earl Boston made a significant contribution to honor his high school chemistry teacher, Niel Tubbs. The Innovation Library Center for third through fifth graders will be named for Tubbs.

The late Grant Searcey, a celebrated artist who passed away in 2018… will have an art room named in his honor thanks to another generous donation.

Jeanette Engler's family chose to make a contribution to honor her. She was a long-time employee in the high school cafeteria and it will be named for her.

A recent mini-campaign, "Honoring the Past, Support the Future," chaired by Rose Fetty included several other former teachers who are encouraging donations for the Pre K through Second Grade Innovation Library Center.  Several former teachers have made generous donations.  Businesses have also stepped up and helped the capital campaign.

Donations of $500 or more will be featured on a Donor Wall at the new school, which is set to open this coming school year.
