HASTINGS, Neb. – Jake Dane overcame a four-stroke deficit to win the first golf state championship in Sandy Creek school history on Wednesday.

The Cougar Senior shot a 4-over-76 on day one, and a 2-over-74 on day two to record a 6-over par (150) finish in the Class D state tournament at the Lake Maloney Golf Club in North Platte.

Dane sat four strokes behind leader Junior Tyson Essex of Loomis after day one, but made up five strokes in day two to beat Essex and Jack Baker of Hitchcock County who tied for second place with a +7 (151) finish.
