R. Douglas Horrocks, 89 years of age, of Lincoln, formerly of Beatrice passed away Tuesday, April 16, 2024. He was born on January 2, 1935 to Darrell and LaNora (Carter) Horrocks of Meadow Grove. Doug attended rural Schools through 8th grade and graduated from Tilden High School. He attended Kansas State College for 2 years and graduated from the University of Nebraska College of Agriculture. Doug also attended graduate college at Nebraska in Agricultural Economics. He served in the U.S. Army at Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri, Fort Gordon, Georgia and Fort Riley, Kansas. Doug married Janet Botsford on July 2, 1958 and to this marriage were four children, Ramona Jo, Richard, Randall and Renee. He was employed by the United States Department of Agriculture for 34 years retiring as District Director with Farmers Home Administration. Doug enjoyed big game hunting in several states and Canada but most of all enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren. Janet passed away in 2010. He married Eunice Reed in 2012. 

Doug is survived by his wife, Eunice; children, Ramona Jo Wright of Michigan, Richard (Paula) of Disney, Oklahoma, Randall (Rhonda) of Arizona, Renee Hrock (Ernie) of Diller; step children, Vicki Bancroft (Bill) of California, Chris Carpenter of Lincoln, Kim York (Dwight) of Beatrice; 9 grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren; 6 step grandchildren; and 5 step great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; 1st wife, Janet; and sister, Joyce.

A private inurnment will be in the Emerick Cemetery near Meadow Grove. Memorials are suggested to the Sesostris Shrine Transportation Fund in care of the mortuary.
