LINCOLN, Neb. - A Gage County man is locked up in Lincoln after being accused of sexually assaulting a teen in Albion.

Lancaster County deputies arrested 21-year-old Jauson Schriner on Friday. He’s charged with one count of first-degree sexual assault of a child out of Boone County.

In an arrest affidavit, Boone County Attorney John Morgan alleges that Schriner manipulated a 13-year-old girl and her mother into letting him stay with them last year.

The teen had been speaking with Schriner in 2023, and he told her that his mom had kicked him out of the house in December. At the time, the teen believed Schriner was 16-years-old, but court records show he was 20-years-old.

She asked her mother if Schriner could stay with them, and she agreed. Days after showing up at the home in Albion, Schriner asked the teen to be his girlfriend and pressured her into sex, Morgan wrote. Prosecutors think Schriner then assaulted the teen 12 to 15 times.

Schriner claimed that his birthday was on Dec. 7, and that he was turning 17-years-old. His affidavit lists his birthday on Dec. 10, and the teen became suspicious of Schriner just after his “birthday,” according to his affidavit.

She searched his phone and discovered he’d been communicating with many other girls, claiming to be several different ages. The girl also found a text from Schriner’s mother wishing him a happy 21st birthday, Morgan wrote.

The teen kicked Schriner from the home after the revelation and contacted police. An arrest warrant for Schriner was issued months later on April 5.

He’s currently being held in the Lancaster County Jail and awaiting extradition to Boone County. Jail records show his bond has been set at 10% of $100,000.
