Bellevue West tops Omaha Central to set up Class A rematch
LINCOLN - Class A top-seed is back in a familiar spot...the state title game.
#1 Bellevue West took down Metro Conference rival Omaha Central, 62-54 on Friday in the Class A semi-finals.
It was an evenly-matched back-and-forth affair in the first half, with the Eagles holding a slim 30-28.
But the Thunderbirds took over in the third, opening the half on a 7-0 run, and holding a ten-point lead into the fourth.
A pair of D.J. Sterling free throws brought Central within 8 with two minutes to go, but they would get no closer.
Bellevue West clinches a spot in their fifth straight state title game, and their sixth in the last seven years.
Their opponent is a familiar one, Millard North, who they've played in each of the last four championships, with each school winning twice.
