Peggy J. Koch, 88, of Beatrice, passed away on Tuesday, March 5, 2024 at the Beatrice Community Hospital. She was born on November 26, 1935 in Oketo, KS to John and Gladys (Cowell) Sand and graduated from Barneston High School in 1952.  On February 6, 1953, Peggy married Kenneth Koch in Fairbury, NE.  Outside of being a homemaker she was also a hairdresser, did catalog sales at JC Penney and worked for Palmer News Service. She enjoyed fishing, camping, boating (even though she never learned how to swim), attending the grandchildren and great-grandchildren’s activities and events, and happy hour with whomever would stop by. Later in life Peggy and Ken enjoyed being snowbirds in Florida and Arizona. Her family will always remember her chocolate chip cookies and glorified rice salad. She was a member of St. John Lutheran Church, Beatrice, VFW and Legion Auxiliaries.

Survivors include her husband, Kenneth Koch; sons, David (Linda) Koch of Beatrice, Donald Koch of Thornton, CO; daughter, Diane (Rodney) Gartner of Waterloo; grandchildren, Nicholas (Rachelle) Koch of Beatrice, Nathan Koch (special friend Erika) of Beatrice, Michelle (Matt) Luettel of Waterloo, Amanda (Michael) Oliver of Gretna, Emily (Justin) Malmstrom of Elkhorn, Samuel Koch of Denver, CO, Patrick Koch of Fort Collins, CO, Sarah Koch of Westminster, CO; brother, Don Sand (special friend Pat) of Gladstone, MO; 8 great-grandchildren; brothers and sisters-in-law, Alan (Liz) Koch, Vernon (Ann) Koch, Loyd Koch, Janet Bargman, Suzanne Koch, Linda Hagerman and numerous nieces, nephews and extended family. She was preceded in death by her parents, infant sister, Sharon Sand, brother, Jack Sand; sister, Rosie Christlieb; parents-in-law Percy and Mona (Saathoff) Koch; step mother-in-law, Minnie (Ehnen) Koch; sisters-in-law, Delores Koch, Linda Sand; brothers-in-law, Clarence Koch, Jerry Hagerman, Roland Bargman, Ozzie Christlieb.

 

Memorial services will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Tuesday, March 12, 2024 at St. John Lutheran Church of Beatrice with Rev. Dr. Renae Koehler officiating. Inurnment will be held at a later date at the Evergreen Home Cemetery of Beatrice.  A family prayer service will be held at -10:45 A.M. on Tuesday at the church.  A memorial has been established to the family for future designation  www.foxfuneralhome.net.  Fox Funeral Home and Cremation Services of Beatrice is in charge of the arrangements.
